The best place to find items to Upcycle is your own backyard.

From old clothes to broken toys, mismatched crockery and that packaging you couldn't avoid, your place is teaming with items begging to be reborn as an Upcycled masterpiece.

And once you've cleaned out your place, remember to investigate your parents' basement, your neighbours' attic and your mate's shed!

However, here are some more suggestions if you need to look further afield.

Tip Shops

Tip Shops are recycling centres, usually operated by the local government, where peoples sorted rubbish is available at very low prices.

The are open to the public, like a shop, but allow you to salvage recycled materials and household items for a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere.

Freecycle

Freecycle is a huge on-line community with thousands of members in Perth alone. The goal is to keep things out of landfill by giving them away to others who may have a use for them.

You join for free and can then "claim" anything which someone else is giving away.

REmida Creative Reuse Centre

REmida collects industrial discards from shops and factories around Perth, and makes these materials available to the community.

REmida does not sell materials – instead, you can sign up as a member, and this entitles you to use the materials. Members can collect materials as often as they need to, for free.

Reverse the Truck: is an reuse centre, serving artists and the community in Melbourne, but with a mail order service.
